Postage Due
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
1698 O J17 imagePostage Due, 1884, 3¢ red brown (Scott J17), top margin pair with plate number, The exceptional preservation of this stamp is remarkable, especially considering that selvage was often removed before the stamps were used. This has resulted in very few surviving examples of these early plate numbers. In fact, this plate number is one of only two plate numbers used on the various 3-cent stamps issued by the American Banknote Company. Despite some light creases near the top of the selvage, which the certificate does not mention, the rest of the stamp is remarkably well-preserved to even include full intact original gum., Fine overall centerine, ex Shaff, with 2015 P.S.E. certificate. 1702 O J30 imagePostage Due, 1894, 2¢ vermilion (Scott J30), single with plate number 34, which was the only plate to produce this scarce issue, a remarkable find and a true treasure for any collector. Its rarity alone is enough to make it a highly desirable piece, but its added distinction of bearing a plate number makes it even more exceptional. Despite its light horizontal crease, light soiling, reinforced perforations and thin in selvage, this stamp has been preserved in a remarkable intact condition that is a testament to its quality and endurance through time. Its historical significance and rarity make it a valuable addition to any collection., Very Fine, ex Shaff.
