A Midsummer Sorting Project, 17,900 3¢ Bank Note Stamps, organized in 17 glassines of 1,000 each and one glassine of 900, completely unchecked for cancels, grills, varieties of paper and printing, fresh to the market, we assume there are some faulty examples and that the majority are, Fine to Very Fine, assuming these are all Nos. 147, 158, 184 and 207's, which catalog $1.80, $1, $1 and $.80 respectively, the catalog value can be reasonably estimated at about $18,000, assuming no premium cancels and no grilled stamps (Scott 136; cat $32.50).
