310   imageSTS-8 Flown to Orbit Covers, 1983, 500 envelopes intended for sale by the Post Office in partnership with NASA; sporting the $9.35 Express Mail stamp, the covers were postmarked at Kennedy Space Center in FL and taken to orbit by Space Shuttle Challenger, then backstamped at Edwards AFB, CA; all appear to have serial numbers under 1,000; clearly these never made it to sale in USPS folders and those not packaged for sale were reportedly destroyed; these numbers do not appear on the destruction list; a delicious mystery for the budding Astrophilatelist, Fine to Very Fine.
