LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
699   imageRussia, "Revolutionary" Highly Specialized Mostly Mint Collection, 1857-1968, Three Scott Specialty albums which go way beyond the Scott catalogue; the collector made numerous notations in pencil referencing both the Zverev & Zagorsky catalogues, and in many instances, the stamp in question wasn't listed in either, such as a signed Scott #28 used (missing center (rose color)) or an imperf pair with double impression of 107a with accompanying certificate). In addition to the usual color & paper varieties, you'll encounter countless errors, such as misplaced frames, double strikes, pairs imperf between and inverted overprints, a few specimens and some unissued stamps, like the 40k Voroshilovgrad Diesel Locomotive Plant design of 1958. Numerous forgeries have also been identified by the collector and notated as such. There's also scores of locals and private overprints, which even for the specialist may very well be uncharted territory. Here's a listing of just some of the better Scott-listed material as mounted: used #1 (also a duplicate appearing unused), 2-4, 19c-25a (vertically laid paper), 39-40 (on pieces), 59a (groundwork omitted), B32, and mint 5-10, 12-18, 19-25, 31-38, 40, 53 (block), 54, 88-104, 149a (imperf single), 181c-82a (double impressions), 186b (triple impression), 472-78, 487-88, 489-509, 519-23, 524-28, 531-32, 536-39, 540-45, 546-50, 551-54, 555-58, 559-68, 569-72, 597-604, 647-58, 659-65, 666-77, 698-705, 706-12, 794-810, 845-49, 850-51, 852-55, 857-58, 859, 860-66, 867-72, 970 (four varieties), 1227-29 (imperf), 1230-33, 1261-64, 1280-83, 1284-88, 1289-94, 1302-03, 1325 (both papers), 1360a, 1464-68, 1508-09, 1518-25, 1526, 1532-33, 1550-51, 1596-97, 1598-1602, 1624-27, 1676-77, B29a, B30-33, B38-42, B54a (with certificate), B56a, B56b, C12-13, C15-19, C23a, C26-33, C34-35, C37-39, C45-49, C50-52, C53-57, C58-67, C68 (2, one signed), C75a (3) and a large portion of this is never-hinged adding even more to the already immense catalogue value. And may I add that this collection doesn't just cover Mother Russia but the far reaches of the Empire as well including the occupied areas of both World Wars. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Batum, Crete (Russian Zone), Estonia, Far Eastern Republic, Georgia, Karelia, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, North Ingermanland, Siberia, Tannu Tuva, Ukraine and others, and many of these areas are highly complete as well. Many better items here too as well, like mint Aunus N13-17, N19-20, Czechoslovak Legion Post 6-14, German Occupation of Ukraine (Alexanderstadt) Michel 12Y with certificate, Karelia 1-15, Tannu Tuva 44 (both type I & II according to Zverev catalogue and each with certificate). A monumental collection and we have scanned large portions of it for you to view in the comfort of your home, generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 24.8 lbs. 708   imageRussia, "Strength in Numbers" Mint & Used Collection in Albums, 1858-1998, Three volumes of Minkus, well-filled and mostly used until the mid-1960s with stamps both hinged and in mounts. A few higher value items, such as used #531-32, 559-68, C53-57, and mint 603a, B30-33, but it's the sheer volume, especially the modern mint which pushes the overall catalogue value to great heights.
