Brady, June 26 1865, Major and Provost Marshal", octagonal handstamp on an otherwise blank envelope that would have enclosed a "Certificate of Release of Prisoner of War" from Point Lookout. This is the only recorded example of this marking on an envelope, Very Fine.

Also included is a photocopy of such a certificate for one Thomas G. Penn dated June 16, 1865, signed by Brady and bearing his handstamp with that date (75% of actual size). The certificates were prepared in duplicate, the released prisoner's copy going into an envelope such as this.
