S. Classics Society Census of 1847 covers.

119 1b image1847, 5¢ orange brown (Scott 1b), small recorded "R", on 1850 folded letter, stamp with large to ample margins all around and a strong, clear impression, tied by red grid and blue Apr 27 Baltimore c.d.s., the rare small blue "R" is also well struck and was a precursor to registered mail, struck upon receipt, the letter enclosed sight notes from the Mercantile Bank of Baltimore to the cashier at the Bank of the United States in Philadelphia, of exhibition quality, Very Fine, an extremely rare marking.
