In an old-time album, starting with Missionaries used forgeries useful as reference, followed by several better (mint unless denoted) such as 1864-86 Princess Kamamalu (30, 30a & 30b); 1864-86 King Kamehameha (31 & 31a); 1864-86 King Kamehameha (32 x2); 1882 King Kalakaua (38); 1882 Queen Kapiolani (41, NH); 1883-86 King Kalakaua (45); 1883-86 King Kamehameha (47); 1883-86 Queen Emma (49); 1886-89 Reprints (50-51), followed by 1893 red overprints with duplicates, and then by 1893 black overprints with duplicates, 1894 issue, 1896 officials (O1-6) and some revenues. We also noted King Kamehameha imperforate with "Specimen" & "Cancelled" overprints, plus an unchecked-in-detail assortment with town postmarks mounted in stock pages. In six albums, and starting with some stamps issued under U.S. Administration in the 1899-1901 period, followed by several better (mint unless otherwise denoted) such as 1906 Rizal issue, including 2p black & 4p dark blue, and then by 1926 Legislative Palace (319-25), 1932 (354-60), 1935 Regular Issue (383-96), 1936-37 Commonwealth (411-24), 1938-40 Commonwealth (433-46). The Airmail section contains 1926 Madrid-Manila Flight (C1-6 & C9-12, used), 1933 Rein Issue (C36-45). We also noted officials and some Japanese Occupation examples, including a 1943 cover, 1943 Provisional overprints and three imperforate pairs corresponding to the 1943 Inauguration of the puppet republic issue. The collection is highly complete in the 1946-2002 period, and contains a wealth of sets and souvenir sheets mostly in never hinged condition. A nice clean lot not to be missed, Fine to Very Fine.

294   imageRyukyus, Stamp Designers' Signatures, 1958-71. Collection of 124 different items comprising 90 stamps, 27 postal cards and seven imperf Christmas Seals sheets between. Seven different artists are represented with the signatures being on the actual Postal Cards or Christmas Seals and, in the case of the stamps, on small pieces of paper with an example of the stamp affixed and "tied" by the artist's personal chop. A fascinating lot and one that would probably be difficult to duplicate today.
