1857, 3¢ dull red, type III (Scott 26), horizontal pair, used on piece with manuscript penstroke cancellation, closely resembling horizontal pair, imperforate vertically variety, but the pair has a vertical slice along the right side of the left stamp and has been professionally reassembled to look like the imperf between pair which would have a Scott catalog value of $14,000, Fine.

1857, 3¢ dull red, type IV (Scott 26A), o.g., very lightly hinged, extraordinary example of this notoriously difficult stamp, with the deepest and richest color ever seen on a 3¢ 1857 issue, a marvelous stamp in a wonderful pristine state that would satisfy the most particular collector, Fine to Very Fine, photocopy of 1994 P.F. certificate for block of 6, from which this stamp was taken, this being the lower left stamp from the block.

1857-1902, four items, mint and used (Scott 33, 151, * 186, *E6), which failed extension from the "Weston" collection, used #33 two PF certificates one stating with faint diagonal crease, the other not mentioning any fault; used #151 with fraudulent grill applied, again two PF certificates one states genuine #140 the other #151 with counterfeit grill; mint original gum #186 with the faintest and most trivial bend or crease and mint original gum #E6 with PSE certificate that states "with a small internal tear", useful group, expecially for reference, handsome Very Fine appearance.
