Europe and Colonies continued...

Austria continued...
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
1196 /o   imageAustria, Primarily Mint Collection, 1850-1981. Nearly complete for the period on Scott Specialty album pages; 1850-1883 issues are mostly used (though we do note unused #3 & 5, XF, no gum), but from 1890 onward everything is mint and virtually complete; the Regular issues lack only the 2k Birthday Jubilee and the 10s Dollfuss; among the Semi-postals, only the WIPA & Renner sheets are missing and the Airs & Postage Dues are complete. Condition is virtually all Fine to Very Fine, the mint being o.g. (never hinged beginning in 1962 plus a few earlier). Overall, a very impressive showing and rarely offered in such an intact state.

1198 /   imageBelgium, Mint Collection, 1863-1982. Powerful, intact and highly complete collection in a Scott Specialty album. How powerful is it? Well, from 1886 to 1992, the only missing stamps of any significance, among regular issues & Semi-Postals, are #75 & B106; and the Back-of-the-Book issues are nearly as impressive, with the Parcel Posts being complete from 1922; also included are many "extras", like unlisted souvenir sheets and B69-77 with the 1929 "L" monogram overprint. Furthermore, condition is not a problem, being, virtually without exception, o.g., clean and Fine to Very Fine throughout; and this includes earlier issues, like #36 (no gum), 54 & 56; plus, there are many better never hinged from the early to mid-1950s and everything from 1961 onward is never hinged. All-in-all, quite a remarkable opportunity.

As to condition, other than Congo #11, which has no gum, virtually everything is o.g. and Fine to Very Fine. A terrific lot.
