South Africa, Uncensored Civilian Mail Abroad, double rate cover to Holland franked by two Transvaal ½d green and four 1d rose-red and green (S.G. 216-17) tied by "Volksrust, Z.A.R. / 26 Mei 00" datestamps a few days before the fall of Johannesburg and Pretoria, Pretoria, Lourenco Marques and Amersfoort backstamps, bottom flap missing, Very Fine; during the period before the fall of the Boer Republics to the British, mail to Europe had to be routed via Lourenco Marques and nearly all was censored.

South Africa, Imperial Military Railways, bold violet handstamped cachet at top of cover to England franked by pair of Transvaal 1d carmine and green overprint'd "E.R.I." and tied by "Pretoria / Transvaal / 28 Apr 01" postmark, vertical pocket fold and a couple tears at top, Very Fine usage; among the scarcest Boer War items, with this form of cachet not recorded by Rich; though some Army Post Offices were located aboard trains, the military railways had no postmarks of their own, not even at their base or supply depots, and had to rely on the civilian postal system.

South Africa, Canadian Contingent covers to England, pair of covers from a member of "Strathcona's Horse" to Sheffield, sent 7th and 16th August, 1901 with octagonal "Army Post Office / Natal Field Force / Standerton" datestamps, the former being the first day of use for this cancel, red London "Paid" entry and Sheffield arrival cancels, covers with edge faults from rough opening but a scarce destination from this contingent; at this time Strathcona's Horse was attached to Sir Redvers Buller's forces in eastern Transvaal.
