1160   imageWest Virginia Cover, Postcard and License Collection, hundreds, mostly 1900's-40's with a handful earlier and later, including many interesting items, postcards are a mix of cards chosen for the picture side of a scene in a West Virginia town and others for the cancel, a few college covers, a handful of coal-themed items, reduced legal sized cover with #69 with top selvage tied by "Kanawha C.H. Va. Oct. 16, 1861" double-circle datestamp to Ohio signed by Stanley Ashbrook, well organized in four boxes, a legal-sized cover with #73 (2) & 114, vast majority are towns A through G, well-organized in four shoeboxes, also includes over 100 licenses (no stamps) mostly from the 1940's and 1950's for a drug store in Charleston including vending machines, general licenses, licenses to operate a store, license to sell soft drinks, cigarettes and tobacco, health department licenses to operate an eating and drinking establishment (these were displayed in the store and show the usual corner faults and pinholes), plus an old short film "W.V. Postal History - Maps" and an 1869 statement sized partially printed receipt with Harnden Express letterhead, mixed condition, generally Fine to Very Fine, see some of the highlights online.
