1795 c image1938 (Nov 27) underpaid cover from Shepton Mallet with machine-applied 'T'-in-hexagon apparently of London, to New Zealand, largely superb 'RECEIVED IN DAMAGED CONDITION/EX FLYING BOAT CALPURNIA' h/s from the crash in Iraq attractively waterlogged & with the stamp washed-off. The tax marking has not previously been noted by us. [An accompanying letter from Robin Startup identifies only one other cover from the incident to New Zealand]
