1901 British New Guinea 2/6d black & chocolate as SG 16 but a forgery by Jean de Sperati, a few short perfs at upper-right, superb
part-strike of Sperati's bogus 10-bars 'BNG' cancel with the tell-tale short top bar & characteristically struck away from the vignette. Ex Paul Simonson (1981), Sir Gawaine Baillie and Peter Troy: sold for $2330. BPA Certificate - a "pinky" for a
forgery! - (2001). [Roger Lee at page 100 states "I have seen only two examples..." However, Peter Troy accounted for seven examples: his two other examples each sold for $2680]
