JAMES J CORBETT vs ROBERT FITZSIMMONS: 'Saturday Globe, Utica, Saturday March 20 1897', featuring colour image on front page with
portraits of Corbett & Fitzsimmons either side of Victory (issued 2 days after the fight), newspaper size 45x58cm. [It was the first prizefight ever contested in Nevada, and the subject of the very first feature-length film (though only snippets of
that footage survive to this day: see YouTube). After withstanding a rather brutal beating from the man who ended the long, unbroken reign of John L. Sullivan, Fitzsimmons caught Corbett with a single shot to the solar plexus that left the reigning
champion unable to continue]. (Image1)
