MARKING.
The "Uncle Sam" was built in 1849 and dismantled in 1859.
We record only three examples of the "Uncle Sam" straightline stencil marking: 1. 1851 Dec. 4, St. Louis Mo. to New Orleans La., uncancelled
3¢ #10A, the cover offered here. 2. Jan. 21, cover from Carroll Hoy correspondence to New Orleans La., 5¢ 1847 stamp doesn't belong, ex-Feldman. 3. 1852, folded letter to Saint Louis Mo. bearing 3¢ 1851 issue tied by stencil
