2493 P    UX4P1 imageCanal Zone, Panama, 1913, 1¢ green & black, A.B.N.C. Master Large Die Proof on India. Die sunk on full 142x229mm card, Very Fine and scarce.

In 1913, the Canal Zone required further 1¢ postal cards, and the American Bank Note Co. prepared new Balboa stamp die with amended arched frame design. Approved by Panama with a total of 634,000 cards supplied over six orders. But Panama did not require and cards, so the entire order was overprinted "Canal Zone". This design was never issued as a separated stamp.
