fateful year of 1849, as the story goes, before departing with a load on offer, he buried for safe keeping a few thousand dollars worth of gold dust in a square gin bottle some distance from his residence. He marked the location with a bunch of weeds
that he would recognize again but, upon his return from the mines, found that a wildfire had burned over the area. The weeds were gone. The gin bottle with its treasure was never found.(FYI - Lost treasure in a gin bottle… it doesn't get better than
that). (Image1)
