Now my own opinion is that Conness (John) and all of the old Broderick element from this county will try to unite on Randolph…Conness I believe is figuring for Governor next fall.", the 2nd letter is datelined "Coloma Nov. 23, 1860" and reads, "Dear
Will, Why the devil don't you write to me. I do not know where you are, what you are doing or expect to do. Conness wants to run for Governor next fall-at least I am satisfied of it from what his friends say. So you see what is up, in that quarter.
