Hawley in early January of 1850, bought out his partners in Hawley's Express to form Hawley & Co.'s Express. By that November, he was bought out by the newly founded Freeman's Express. (Image1)

Receit for it to be delivered (at) Willcolons and Co. Sact city, Cal."; cover soiling, Fine, a fascinating and early historical account of this early expressman. Estimate  $300 - 400. Hiram Lusk is known to have started Rhodes & Lusk's Express with James. H. Rhodes in 1852 which operated daily from Sacramento where they connected with Wells, Fargo & Co. to Marysville, Tehama, Shasta, Yreka, Weaverville and into southern Oregon. (Image1)
