2666   Balloon post collateral material and postcard, 1907. An interesting selection of collateral material including original photograph and postcard for 'Hersey and Atherholt' and their balloon 'United States' for their 1907 flight, accompanying 'Aero Club of America' Certificate of Passage for Gordon Bennett contest of October 21st 1907, filled in by the pilot outlining the details of the flight, the 'United States' won the first Gordon Bennett balloon race in 1906, the 1907 flight travelled 650 miles in 26 hours and 10 minutes but this time did not win the race, despite excellent performance.
