Astounding and extensive connoisseur's collection of mint and used with extensive amount of never hinged and many valuable items to be found both mint and used. There are good classics like embossed eagles complete used, several (including 22) with S.O.N. cds's plus some good mint, and although states are absent there is a nice little Heligoland collection with genuine rare items like Michel 19Aa XF mint block, 2n.h. signed A Diena plus excellent 3rd Reich period with much of the never hinged found in VF fresh corner margin examples including 351-62, n.h., 401-14n.h., B33n.h., B49-57n.h., B59-67 n.h., B68VF used, C26 n.h., C34 n.h., C35-7 n.h., C38-9 mint, C40-2 mint (41-2 n.h.) plus all two groups complete VF -XF used, as are most others in this period including B49-57, C20-34. Much good B.O.B. including 0216-21 n.h. There are full sheets n.h. of 3rd Reich era tête-bêche booklet issues in a sheet file (€2830) plus many complete booklets like Mich MH 36.2, MH 37.4 rare block with WZ1 (2) and WZ2 n.h. (€1600) and also not to be overlooked, specialized WWII items not often seen in collection lots like Feldpost Mi 5a mint signed Kesselstatt, Flemish Legion Mich XV-XIX perf & imperf n.h., rare Inselpost (all expertized) including Mi 7a used, 9 n.h., 108d n.h., IIab mint (counted ½ n.h. price) 11Bb n.g. also French Legion Polar bear souvenir sheet plus a terrific group of scarce private airmail. Issues (group cert $19000) including Michel Gelber Hund varieties to €1500 each, and Mich semiofficial Air M1A used, MZa mint, M3 mint n.h., M5 mint, M7 mint, M9 mint, M10 used M11 Leignitz Zepp both colors n.h. mint plus used signed with Simon cert. Also noted are Bund + Berlin issues virtually complete including Posthorns, Berlin 1st overprints black + red + (NB3a + 585A-99 sets + Mi I/I - IX/I + some blocks and most used also including 9NB3a, 9N17 block. There is a section of items in numbered and priced cards, including highlights already noted, but also with mint n.h. blocks and other varieties, adding to the immense appeal of this lot. Such collections are rarely offered intact, and this one presents a rare chance to obtain a remarkable holding at a relatively modest price, with nearly all F-VF and the few n.g. or small faults counted at 1/2. 2199 o      Great Britain, Collection, 1840-1950. Outstanding and valuable mainly used collection, with specialization for plates and shades, neatly arrayed in a Davo hingeless album. This rather attractive collection was assembled by a quality conscious German collector, and boasts many VF cleanly canceled examples, including S.O.N. cds's. There are platings of many QV issues starting with mainly VF penny blacks showing plates 1a and b, 2, 3, 5,6,9 (several with certs) and the rare and highly prized plate II with Royal cert as plate II (this one just a VG-F example, however), 2 penny blue with plate I deep full blue and plate 2, penny reds from black plates with plate 2, 9, 10, 11, 50 different imperf red plates, perf penny red plate 71-225, complete but for the rare 77 ½d engraved including plate 9 complete, followed by a nice showing of embossed and surface printed plates and shades with embossed 6d (4), 10d, and 1sh (4), extensive showing of plates for values to 1sh for surface printed with 1st 5sh plate 1 and 2 in nl and pale shade, 5sh blued paper p1 1 (perfin counted at ¼ nl), 5sh anchor watermark, XF clean oval DS, 1st 10sh and £1 present (latter nicely centered but with reddish crayon mark) 1883 blued paper 2sh6, 5sh, QV long pounds including watermarked orbs! Green with S.O.N. cds Belfast, also mint with specimen overprint (£1100), later QV and KEVII with extensive near complete array of shades to £1 showing 2 long pounds with clean small cds. KGV with impressive Seahorses including 10 different 10sh, shades 2 pound greens, many with certs and some nice cds's, also watermark sideways and lower values shades figured as cheapest. PUC pound VF also. There are a few officials and postage dues, the latter with some better mint including complete sets with n.h. high values. Quite a lovely group with SG cat over £133,0000 (about $170,000).
