Singles of each, used on 1932 light blue cover bearing New Guinea "O.S." 1d green tied by "Rabaul, New Guinea" cds to St. Lucia, red crayon "Tax 2d" rating and St. Lucia dues affixed and tied by "Castries, St. Lucia 3 SP 32" cds, Very Fine. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE USE OF THE ST. LUCIA 1931 TYPESET POSTAGE DUES WITH TWO DIFFERENT VARIETIES.

These two varieties are known from the third printing that were numbered 12001 to 24000. The wide "No." variety occurred on all stamps on row 10 and the missing stop after "Lucia" variety occurs on position R. 9/2 only. (Image1)

Folded letter tied by 1862, 80c rose, horizontal pair tied by "532" dotted lozenge handstamp with matching "Bordeaux, Juin 14, 64" cds, red "6" credit handstamp and "New York Paid 30 Jun. 28" entry cds, light "Fr. Service" in octagon handstamp and Paris transit backstamp; stamps with minor perf flaws, otherwise Very Fine, the only surviving cover from the first Compagnie Generale Transatlantique Line sailing, ex-Winter and Walske, illustrated and reviewed in The Chronicle (#246, page 175).

"Le Daguerre" was piloted by Sylvain Jubert with a freight of 270 kgs, landing later the same day (12 Nov.) with the pilot, passengers & mail all captured - the latter released after conclusion of the war - one mail bag was jettisoned, recovered by the French Guard at Ferrières and transmitted with arrival postmarks from the 20th of November to the 29th.
