Lot 4032 - Shanghai, 1865, Large Dragon (Antique Numerals, "CANDAREENS" plural), 4ca yellow on wove paper, Printing 15. Without gum as issued, huge even margins, bold color and crisp impression, very fresh; couple light creases one entirely in bottom margin, Extremely Fine appearance, with most examples from this printing cut close to design and in the orange yellow shade.
Estimate; $2,000 - 3,000.

This sale features three different collections, the Catalina Collection of Pacific Mail Steamship Company, a Collection of Shanghai Local Post and the Frank Vignola Collection of Nepal. The Catalina Collection is small, but contains virtually every rarity of this fascinating area. The Shanghai Local Post Collection is one of the finest of its type and includes two rare examples on cover. Finally, the Frank Vignola Collection of Nepal, which is a multi-generational collection and one of the finest ever formed.
