Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3109 - December 27, 2023

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 648 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • Lot 26 -30¢ Columbian, XF NH, extremely nice - Scott No. 239
  • Lot 27 - 4¢ Trans-Mississippi, Block of 4, F-VF NH, with very light natural paper wrinkle in lower right stamp; bright, rich color - Scott No. 287
  • Lot 28 - 50¢ Trans-Mississippi, XF-Superb NH - Scott No. 291
  • Lot 251 -1m-4m 1933 Graf Zeppelin Flight to Chicago,beautiful, sound set Scott#C43-45
  • Lot 257 - G B #1a 1p Intense Black, Pos. G-D
  • Lot 624 - RW7 Duck Stamp Print, a very scarce print!
  • Lot 625 - RW13 Duck Stamp Print, also a very scarce print!

  • UNITED STATES, There are (77) U.S. lots offered, with about (20) being an assortment of Classics, several Pictorials, and Banknotes. The rest are a mixture of (4) lots of Columbian issues, Trans-Mississippi, Pan-American, Louisiana Purchase, Washington-Franklins, and the late 20s and modern issues, with (8) Graded stamps; most XF and a couple XF-Superb.
  • COVERS, There are about (26) Cover lots, (5) Commercial covers, including some stampless; and (21) First Day Cover lots with a number of Crosby cacheted items.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, This section contains (20) lots; a few graded Air Post issues and other Back of Book issues.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (4) Lots, including an unusual variety of #178 (Lot 136) - 2¢ Vermilion, Bottom Margin Imprint Inside stamp perforations.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, There are about (210) lots to consider, including some excellent lots from Canada, some nice lots from Great Britain (including a no.1 and1a.); Germany and several great country and topical collections from Argentina, Australia, Ceylon/Sri Lanka, Olympic Commemorative Panels, and Postal Commemorative Society "WORLD OF STAMPS", with (132) display cards in (5) binders.

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (22) Miscellaneous and Autograph lots with a few notable Autographs of the cast of TV's M*A*S*H, Robert Duvall of 'The Godfather" fame and "Apocalypse Now". The rest includes various Memorabilia, Literature and odds/ends.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS & PRINTS, contains about (284) lots, with a mix of Federal, State, Foreign, Artist Signed stamps, Duck stamp EFO's, and other duck related categories. There are FDC's (10- with most being Colorano "Silk" cachets). Some collections to consider, and a few Junior Duck Stamp lots. There are nearly (100) lots of Federal stamps, consisting of singles, Plate Blocks, Plate Number Singles, and a few plate block matched sets. Also included are some Mini-sheets and Press sheet items There are about (30) lots of Artist signed stamps - half Federal and half State. About (100) lots of State and Foreign Duck stamps, Conservation, Fishing and Governor's Editions. Rounding out the popular duck stamp categories, are (5) highly sought after early Federal Duck stamp prints, including the very scarce RW7 and RW13, (17) State prints, with a couple First of state, and (3) Conservation prints.
