Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3104 - July 5, 2023

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 686 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are (76) U.S. lots offered, with about half being an assortment of Classics, Banknotes, and a few Columbians. The rest is a mixture of a few Pan Americans, Louisiana Purchase, Panama Pacific, Washington-Franklins, and the late 20s and modern issues. Lot 65 is a nice NH example of the 2¢ Battle of White Plains Souvenir Sheet of 25, Center Right Side Plate no. 18770.
  • COVERS, There are (25) Cover lots, (5) Commercial, and (20) First Day Cover with several having Crosby photo cachets.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (31) lots, with (11) Air Post stamp lots including a very attractive C1-3 set with vivid colors (Lot 106). Also, there are (30) Back of Book lots with a couple lots of computer vending and (7) lots of plate proofs on card - all with gorgeous colors.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (5) Lots of EFO's are offered with mis-perforations, missing color, printing flaws.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, There are (244) Foreign lots, with a nice selection of sets and singles from Aden to the Virgin Islands. There are also some nice lots from Canada, Great Britain, Germany and many other countries. There are (13) U.S. Collections and (39) United Nations, Foreign Country; a beautiful Vatican collection - lot 385, and a couple Australian collections worthy of consideration. Also, World Wide and Topical Collections; Olympics, Elvis and Basketball.

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are about 1/2 dozen miscellaneous and autograph lots with (2) notable Autographs - Peter Jay, the eldest son of Supreme Court Chief Justice John Jay and Holman Day . The rest include various Memorabilia, Cinderella, and Literature lots.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS & PRINTS, contains about (233) lots, with a mix of Federal, State, Foreign, Artist Signed, EFO's, Governor's Editions and other duck related categories. Included are Federal some duck stamp collections of varying year ranges and condition; a few FDC's and Junior Duck Stamp lots, including one artist signed. Also, (22) lots of Plate Number Singles, and (88) lots of Federal stamps - Singles, Plate Blocks and Graded issues; Lot 456 being a NH RW10 graded 98 by the Professional Stamp Experts. There a few miscellaneous items: (1) Mini-sheet lot, (1) Press Sheet item, (8) Artist Signed stamps and (4) Federal duck stamps, which have been artfully and beautifully remarqued by the stamp artist - all gorgeous. Also, (18) duck stamp error lots are being offered, with most being where the offset color has been mis-registered, with some being quite dramatic. There are (53) State Duck issues, along with (18) Foreign Country duck stamps; including Russia, Australia and Canada - mostly province issues. Also included are (23) Governor's Editions (a few of which are hand-signed). In addition, there are (16) Conservation and Fishing lots. Seventeen (17) Print lots are being offered, including (6) Federals; an RW7, RW40 and 43, and RW52, RW53, RW55, and (11) State duck prints, featuring First of State Prints from North Dakota, Ohio and Washington.
