Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3102 - April 26, 2023

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 602 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are (107) U.S. lots offered, with a fine selection of Classics, Pictorials, Banknotes and Columbians, which make up about 70% of our U.S. offerings. Highlights include no. 30, nos. 83, 84 and 85B scarce/rare Grilled Issues, several high-value Pictorials, including no. 122, 90¢ Carmine; and several high-value Columbians, including a 50¢ Slate Blue NH. A few Exposition Issues, Washington/Franklins and Modern issues round out this section.
  • COVERS, There are about (88) Cover lots, (9) Commercial, that includes Inauguration and White House items.; and (79) First Day Covers lots; of which 9 lots have hand-painted Pugh cachets that includes a complete set of (50) "Greetings From America" FDC's (Lot 181) that are numismatic as well, containing appropriate state quarters except for (5); and Early TV Memories FDC (Lot 187), and other complete sets, each with the brilliant work of Julian and Sharon Pugh. Also, there are a number of Crosby cacheted FDC's of the 1938 Presidential Series.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (45) lots, with (5) Air Post stamp lots and (40) Back of Book, that includes an excellent selection of NH Postage Due items, including a J28 and J60. Also offered, is an Essay block of 4 of the 1983 Balloons on cover and signed by the stamp designer - UNIQUE item!

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (11) Lots of EFO's are offered with misperforations, missing color, printing flaws, etc.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, There are (84) Foreign lots, with a nice selection of sets and singles from Argentina to St. Pierre and Miquelon, including some Australian States, quite a few Great Britain lots, the Falkland Islands, Germany, and many other countries. There are (6) U.S. Collections, (22) Foreign Country Collections, with fine collections of British East Carribbean and British Europe, Canada, Greece and Mexico; and (1) World Wide and (3) Topical Collections.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (263) lots, with a mix of Federal, State, Governor's Editions and other duck related categories. Included are (14) Federal and (5) State FDC's; which includes four with hand-painted Pugh cachets, (7) Junior Duck Stamp lots, (37) lots of Plate Number Singles, and (67) lots of Federal stamps (Singles, Plate Blocks and Graded issues) and five mini-sheet lots. There are (25) Artist Signed Federal stamps, (24) State Duck issues, along with (10) Governor's Editions lots, some hand-signed. Also, there are (7) Foreign, and Conservation lots. There are (14) Prints offered this auction: (4) Federal, featuring an RW10 First Edition with Artist Signed and mint stamps (Lot 589), and (8) State, featuring a set of Texas prints (TX1-TX9) and (2) Conservation duck prints.
