Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on December 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 683 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include
the following:
UNITED STATES, There are (84) U.S. lots with (34) lots of nice Classics, Pictorials and Banknotes with an interesting no. 138A (Lot 20). There is also a 50¢ Columbian #240NH (Lot 38). There are a few Exposition lots (about 10). There are (25)
lots of Washington/Franklins and late 1920s issues with 2¢ CARMINE, COIL WASTE, TOP PLATE BLOCK OF 6 WITH STAR NO. 15497. A rare item. The 1930 to Date section offers (11) lots for perusal.
COVERS, There are about (90) Cover lots, with about (15) Commercial selections, and (75) First Day Covers, of which (25) have hand-painted Pugh cachets. Included in these are complete sets of individual FDC's for several "Turn-of-the-Century"
panes; and several for the Priority and Express stamp issues, and each with the brilliant work of Julian and Sharon Pugh. In the auction's Space Material category, we have two flight covers: TIROS-6 and Apollo-3 Recovery.
AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (49) lots, with (16) Airmails and (33) other BOB issues. There are (9) lots of interesting State Revenue stamps to consider.
ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (16) Lots of EFO's are offered this auction, with one being a 6¢ WATERFOWL CONSERVATION, LOWER RIGHT PANE OF 50 #30350 - gorgeous item! Also, $4.60 Air Force One, Black Engraved Color (USA $4.60) omitted, plus other
interesting omitted colors, mis-perfs, etc.
GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, nearly (200) lots with a nice selection of sets and singles from countries "A to Y" including Argentina, Canada, the Falklands, Germany, Great Britain and a number of other countries, to include the Virgin Islands
and Yemen. There are (6) U.S. Collections that includes a military cover collection, a collection of cut squares, and two wonderful lots with extensive Christmas Seals, as singles and sheets. Also offered, (19) Foreign and World Wide collections, a
very nice Bahamas collection, Iraqi Most Wanted cards; and an exceptional Spain collection - nearly complete from 1950-1984. An exceptional collection of stamps and album conditions.
AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (20) Autographs lots this auction with mostly entertainment types such as Cary Grant, Alan Ladd and a number of singers. The miscellaneous items include about two dozen "Bio-Philately/Official Journals", some
script currency lots, Cinderellas, non-duck print lots and a few other odds and ends.
DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains over (220) lots with a mix of Federals, States, Governor's Editions and most other categories. Included are (5) FDC's, (3) collections of various types, and (5) Junior Duck
stamp lots; (14) Plate Number Single lots and (81) lots of Federals (singles, Plate Blocks and Graded issues), and (2) Mini-Sheet lots. There are (14) Error lots, with Lot 604 being the RW60a, 1993 CANVASBACKS, BLACK ENGRAVED COLOR OMITTED. Also, we
have (35) Artist Signed Federal stamps. A few State issues are included, along with (14) Governor's Editions lots with (4) being Hand-signed by the Governor. Also, there are (9) Conservation and Fishing stamp lots. To finish the sale, we have (15)
prints. Seven Federal prints; that includes RW7 by F.L. Jacques (deceased), 1967 FEDERAL DUCK PRINT by Les C. Kouba (deceased), with artist signed stamp, which in itself is scarce; also RW40, RW44, RW50, RW55 prints and 1983 Federal and Alabama
State Artist Proof prints by William C. Morris, both no. 146 of an issue of 500, very nice! There are (8) State and Conservation prints with Alaska, Missouri and Ohio First of State prints.
