Sam Houston Philatelics Sale - 3095

Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction - August 24, 2022

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 636 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. In this auction, we are pleased to offer scarce RW5 through RW9 Artist Signed Duck Stamps and (3) copper etchings as "essays" for RW5 by Roland Clark (deceased). These were reportedly study drawings before creating the RW5 design. A few of the other highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are (127) U.S. lots with many nice Classics, Pictorials and Banknotes (49 lots) highlighted by: (1) a very scarce Scott #1a (the blackish brown color); (2) Scott #95 5¢ Jefferson F Grill an unlisted Double Transfer variety, and (3) Scott #100 VF-XF. There are (19) Columbian lots from the 1¢ to $4.00. There are a few Exposition lots (14), with very nice 50¢ and $2.00 Trans-Mississippi. In the 1902 Regular issues, there are a number of NH items for consideration. There are (25) lots of Washington/Franklins and late 1920s issues including Bluish paper issues and a White Plains Souvenir Shee of 25. The 1930 to Date section offers (7) lots for perusal.
  • COVERS, There are (47) Cover lots - a small but interesting Commercial selection, with Space related covers, Super Bowl souvenir cover, very early metered cover and an actually used Official mail. There are (43) First Day Covers, of which most are premium Crosby Photo-cachets, with some up to (5) different cachets for an issue.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (13) total lots of (9) Airmails; and (4) Back of Book issues, that includes a complete set of postally used Parcel Post stamps.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (10) Lots of EFO's are offered. A variety of mis-perfs, different shades and color shifts, under inking, etc. Great selection that includes (2) $1 Rush Lamp and Candleholder error lots.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, (220) lots with a comprehensive Canada offering (Scott no.15//1196 and Back Of Book). Nice selection of China and Great Britain, (4) U.S. collections one of which is a large collection of USPS Souvenir pages; and other World Wide and Topical collections Take a close look at these various collections! There are some really nice and rare lots here!

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (5) Autograph lots with signatures of notables in entertainment including director Robert Evans, Foreigner's Lou Gramm and Mick Jones, Dore Schary and Keifer Sutherland; also (4) lots of promotional toy vehicles advertising SHOWGARD (total of 18 vehicles), and a few other Cinderella and Miscellaneous lots.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (220) lots. There are (2) collections of graded issues, (5) Plate Number Single lots and (83) Federal lots of singles, Plate Blocks and a few Graded issues. You'll find (6) Mini-Sheet lots, and a couple Error lots. Also, we have (29) Artist Signed Federal stamps with scarce signed RW5, RW6, RW7, RW8 and RW9 to add to your signature collection. A variety of State and Foreign duck stamps (36), and (8) Governor's Editions, Also, there are (10) Conservation and Fishing stamp lots. To finish the sale, we have (6) Federal prints along with an RW5 design study in copper etchings. Also (9) State Duck Prints, including (5) First of State; from Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana and West Virginia. Be joyful and have success in your bidding!
