Transatlantic use of the 1847 issue, with the 5c stamp paying British open mail rate by British packet, 1s6d marked debit to Prussia (8p sea postage from US to GB, 6p for British transport, 4p for double weight letter carried by Belgian transit),
then 52kr marked due by Austria equaling 18p owed to Britain (43kr) plus 9kr for internal mail transit, 2005 Philatelic Foundation certificate (Image 1)
