SYRIA CLASSICS COLLECTION. Arabian period and housed on old fashioned quadrille album leaves with a few hundred stamps, mint and used, the majority of which are the overprints on the Ottoman Empire issues. The collection unfolds in chronological
order from 1919/20 onwards with a complex range of issues up to top values with few empty stamps, occassionally parallel mint and used - there is much here that is not even listed in Scott. The specialist will recognise stamps that are unquestionably
scarce, if not rare. The more regular issues of the 1920s including multiples and lots of errors, i.e. double prints, dramatically misplaced perforations etc. This continues through to back of the book issues of Arabian postage dues stamps and
Ottoman Empire, even postal fiscals postally used rounds off a collection that would be very hard to replace today. Much more here than described, a most enjoyable viewing awaits the collector of this challenging philatelic area, seldom seen in
collection format and offered intact as received. (see online scans) |

GERMAN STATES COLLECTION. 100s of mint and used housed in a Lighthouse album, from Baden, followed by Bavaria 1849 1kr Black unused (appears signed but offered on its own merits) followed by the full and broken circles complete on the 1849/1858
to 18kr yellow and also the 1862 to 18kr red including 12kr green with most attractive cancel, further issues both perf and imperfs 18kr red on the coat of arms, through to 1911 complete to 20m including different types, the seldom seem 25pf Aero
Club issue mint, followed by Bergedorf, Brunswick, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Schwerin inc. both 1856 3s and 5s through 1864 2s and 5s the latter mint. No German Federation, Oldenburg, a good range of imperf Prussia shield types etc, Saxony to high value
10gr and then complete unused coat of arms, lots of Thurn und Taxis ending in Wurttemberg with a good range of imperfs and again near completion from 1875 onwards, etc. usual mixed condition with some dubious stamps/ cancels as often though in better
