Friendly Typewritten Letter Signed "Norman Rockwell," ½ page, small 8vo, Stockbridge, MA, January 23, 1973. He tells a collector, "…I have autographed the stamp blocks as requested. Smith and Jerry Lewis, Alan Shepard (1923-1998) was the first American astronaut in space (in 1961) and in 1971 became the fifth (and oldest) man to walk on the moon, limited edition signed cover no. 66/150. This envelope was on board the Mercury Space capsule as it served as the broadcast vehicle for Carter B. Smith's 24 hour Radiothon for MDA on KNBR Radio 68 on Sept 2-3 (6pm - 6pm) 1979. These covers were sold and the proceeds benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association. (Image) (Image2)
