Saltillo 8r lilac, three large to huge margins, just touched at left, used on November 1857 registered cover front from Saltillo to San Juan de los Lagos, showing blue postmarks struck on dispatch (Schatzkès #1352, 1355),
manuscript markings applied in transit in Aguascalientes (December 2) and Lagos (December 9), signed on reverse as received by the addressee as per the postal norm for registered mail. A very scarce stamp as only 420 were issued, of even greater
significance on registered mail. Cert. Mepsi (2000). NF $600 as single off-cover. Ex Omar Rodriguez.
Note: All registered mail required the signature of the addressee on the front as proof of delivery, which was sent back to the originating post office to be filed during for two years. These fronts were normally destroyed afterwards, this proving
the great degree of rarity of the surviving examples.(Image 1)
