Lot 4000 - 1907 (1 Sep) 20pa Turkey stationary card from El-Ula to Leipzig. On front is large (35 mm) violet commemorative seal of El-Ula used only on 19 Aug 1907, Dera double ring transit cds,. and Leipzig arrival 13 Sep. A very rare cancelled-to-order postcard with perfect impression of the commemorative seal used for one day only to celebrate the completion of the railway line as far as El-Ula. One of six examples recorded, very fine and attractive..... Currently CHF 10,000

Middle East Online Auction - March 14, 2024

We are delighted to present nearly 600 lots of Middle East items from Egypt, Persia and Saudi Arabia, with stamps, proofs, varieties and errors, postal history and so on.

Egypt
The Egypt section features over 330 lots of stamps, proofs, varieties and postal history for the various definitives, commemoratives and back-of-the-book issues. Items of particular note include a Suez Canal Company 20c on cover (one of only 15 recorded), 1895 Winter Festivals set in control blocks, 1927 King Fouad 500m control block of four, and many more.

Persia
The Persia section features over 140 lots of stamps and postal history, including Indian Offices, Lion issues, a range of the Qajar dynasty issues, stationery, revenues, etc. Highlights include a stunning error of the 1931-32 Pahlavi 3c in a block of nine with the central stamp with centre omitted, a cover with three Lions stamps and 1907-09 Shah Qajar Issue 4Kr yellow with Ministry of Foreign affair violet overprint in complete mint n.h. sheet of 25.

Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Arabia section features over 120 lots of postal history from an award-winning exhibit collection, from the Turkish Post Offices, through to Hejaz, Hejaz & Nedjd and Kingdom issues. Highlights include an AR cover with an ornate Mecca registered oval cachet, a Turkish postal stationery card cancelled by the violet commemorative seal of El-Ula, a unique cover from Taif with the registration label and registration receipt attached, a very rare "FEE PAID" Arabic hs on cover from Mecca, etc.
