Purves (Collectors Club Philatelist, Vol 52, no. 3, page 163). The printer evidently included a left-over Plate I sheet with plate II sheets when perforated. 6036 image1881 (July 1): 1 c. vermilion on yellowish, plate I, imperforate, three examples separated by hand used on underpaid 1882 double rate cover from Gonaives to Le Havre, France endorsed "per Calahryson S.S." with 1881 7 c. pale blue similarly separated and 1882 perf. 2 c. dull purple, plate II, first printing, four single examples, all tied on arrival by "UNION PAYS D'OUTREMER / LE HAVRE" entry markings in red (Feb 25). Struck with triangular "T" marking as underpaid 2 c. on despatch and manuscript notation "0.20" (French centimes due). Taxed with France Postage Due 20 c. deep blue tied on arrival. A very rare and unusual cover - one of very few Postage Due usages and the sole recorded such combination of the Imperforate / Perforate issues. (Image 1) (Image 2)

The foreign postcard rate was 3 c. for over 300 miles.
