30627 image1934: Competition Essays for the Centenary of Victoria, six bromide photographic Essays applied to card (163 x 78 mm.) from "Endeavour" the pseudnym of James Berry, the prize-winning design, with Sailing Ship and view of Melbourne, is the first bromide on this card, the other five were entered but were not chosen, one or two embellished with Chinese white on the photrographs. 30630 imageKing Edward VIII 1936: King Edward VIII, photographic Essays (7) for proposed 2 d. value, stamp size in black and white, affixed to thick card (161 x 102 mm.), all utilising the three-quarter profile head from the unissued 2 d. scarlet, three of the designs being similar to this famous stamp, the other four with considerably more elaborate frames. Reverse marked "8A to 14A" and each Essay initialled and dated "7/5/36" in ink. Mentioned in Brusden White on page 6/23. Edward VIII abdicated on December 11, 1936. Discovered only in 1973, an explanation for its existence in comparison to the more commonly found 2½ mm. high overprint, can be found in Brusden White on page 6/172.
