endorsed "pr. Steamer via Suez, via Marseille", tied by "Pondichery / 111" duplex in black (July 25) with "Pondicherry" cds at right of the same day. Short paid 2 annas 8 pies, and struck with framed "INSUFFICIENT" in black. Madras transit and thence
carried on the P&O steamer "Simla" to Galle and Suez. On arrival in London (Aug 27) struck with circular "MORE / TO / PAY" in black and charged "10" pence due to pay. Minor wear but a most attractive and scarce entire. (Image 1) (Image 2)

reverse pair 8 p. purple (Gi 56) torn on opening but intact, used on 1868 entire letter to Bordeaux endorsed "per Express via Bombay", tied by "Pondichery / 111" duplexes in black (March 2). Curved "INDIA PAID" and 'PD' in red applied in Madras.
Reverse with Bangalore octagonal transit in blue confirming the Express rate. From Bombay carried by P&O Steamer "Delhi" to Suez and thence on the "Tanjore" to Marseille. Bordeaux arrival on reverse (April 6). A remarkable Express cover and very
