VERY FINE. A RARE AND DESIRABLE IMPRINT PAIR OF THE CUBA 10-CENT TYPE II ISSUE, WHICH ONLY EXISTS AS A SPECIAL PRINTING.
In March 1900 one pane of each denomination was prepared for the Paris and Pan-American Expositions. For the 10c the Type II design was used and it is only known as a Special Printing. Only two plate number and imprint positions were printed. The plate number position from the right side was recently sold in the Whitpain sale. The largest recorded multiple is a block of four (which does not have the other plate number position), so this pair with the imprint is likely unique.
Each stamp with Scott Stamp & Coin Co. backstamp. Weill backstamps in selvage. Scott Retail as singles (Image)
