EXTREMELY FINE. ONE OF ONLY TWO EXAMPLES OF THE UNSIGNED NEW YORK PROVISIONAL STAMP ON GRAY PAPER CERTIFIED BY THE PHILATELIC FOUNDATION.

The gray paper was used late in the life of the New York provisional. The Philatelic Foundation has certified 16 gray paper stamps in total, of which only two are without the control initials (see following lot). Examples on gray paper are usually cancelled by the red square grid.
