152 TC image$1.00 Orange, Trial Color Large Die Proof on India (261TC1). Die sunk on 146 x 196mm card with full die sinkage, brilliant color as used on the issued 50c stamp, ms. along side reads "This stamp to be printed in black, Approved P.O.D. Wesley R. Davis, Aug. 30, '94", small card fault at left which is probably from archival binding

VERY FINE. THIS LARGE DIE TRIAL COLOR PROOF FOR THE $1.00 TYPE I 1894 BUREAU ISSUE, WITH MANUSCRIPT NOTATION REGARDING ISSUED COLOR, IS UNIQUE.

Scott Catalogue does not even list a trial color proof for the $1.00 Type I 1894 Bureau Issue.

VERY FINE. THIS APPROVAL CARD FOR THE TWO HIGH VALUES OF THE 1894 BUREAU ISSUE IS UNIQUE. A WONDERFUL EXHIBITION ITEM.

The stamps were issued in December 1894, approximately two months after these large die proofs were approved.
