More than 100 mostly unused stamps on stock pages, largely blocks of four or larger, highlights incl. irregular block of nine of No. 7 signed by a Civil War Union soldier, two blocks of No. 8, Nos. 11-12 incl. two perforated singles, nine blocks of four, block of 48, unusual used cross-gutter pair, nice range of shades, pair of No. 13 and three singles of No. 14, a few flaws to be expected but overall Fine-Very Fine with many attractive stamps, Scott Retail in excess of $4,000.00

FINE APPEARING AND RARE COMBINATION USE OF A STRIP OF THE 2-CENT LITHOGRAPH AND THE 5-CENT TYPOGRAPH, REPRESENTING A ONE-CENT OVERPAYMENT OF THE 10-CENT RATE.

The inside would seem to have been sent to its recipient at Orange C.H., but the lack of postal markings suggests carriage outside the mails. With 2007 C.S.A. certificate as a genuine use but declining opinion on the origin of the interior pair of No. 6 (Image)
