4064 c More of the Calvet M. Hahn Collection of Fancy and Unusual New York Town Markings. Approximately 140 folded letters or covers with a wide variety of post offices and styles represented, mostly 1830's through 1850's (a few earlier or later), includes rimless arcs and circles, Triangle N.Y. triangular framed datestamp, crude woodcuts incl. "Bloomingburg NY" dateless circle, "Paid, Isaac Vail, Postmaster Assembly" oval, several Buffalo N.Y. fancy ovals in different colors, East Painted Post octagonal, and so on, a small number of more ordinary circles or manuscript, quality of strikes varies, but many (more than half) are clear strikes on clean attractive covers, an outstanding group with 50-60 covers having a retail value of $50 to $100 each -- worth careful evaluation (PDF available from our website)
