167 O 78 var. image#78 var., 24c Dark lilac, the used stamp offered here has to be considered as the quintessential example of this rare and distinctive Scott-listed shade variety, as every aspect of this stamp is truly breathtaking, including being incredibly well centered amid huge jumbo margins for any classic stamp, let alone a notorious 24c value from the 1861-62 series, but even more impressive is this stamp's spectacular color in a shade so deep that it could easily be mistaken for the enormously rare blackish violet variety, incredibly detailed impression on bright fresh paper, beautifully cancelled by a blue target and a bit of a red transit c.d.s., an extremely fine gem for the knowledgeable collector who will appreciate the remarkable qualities of this stamp; 2003 PF certificate.
