1047 nhX Remarkably comprehensive modern mint plate block collection from 1944 right up to recent 37c commemoratives filling 28 albums, this is not your typical modern plate block collection, but is rather a highly specialized collection, particularly in the last 35 or so years, where the collector had a good relationship with the local postmaster, who allowed him to pick through sheets of stamps to obtain all different plate numbers and positions for each issue, as well as Mail Early and Zip blocks, plus there are full panes of many of the issues including the high values, for instance the $1.00 Johns Hopkins stamp is represented by 23 plate blocks and eight panes while the $5.00 has eight plate blocks and four panes, plus all of the Express Mail stamps are present in plate strips and panes, there is also some specialized paper and printing types among the regular issues, and there are many premium items present such as four plate blocks of #1569d (one a plate strip of twenty) and a Recalled Legends of the West sheet, plus air posts and some other back-of-the-book including the both Boating Permit stamps, o.g., probably all n.h., fine-very fine; not only does this collection contain an enormous face value (approaching the top end of our estimate), but it is a collection which would be virtually impossible to duplicate. SOLD for $10,500.00
