43 O 10, 11 #10, 11, 1851-57 Three Cent color study chart assembled by Dr. W.F. Amonette, a total of 76 used stamps arranged by shades as appearing by year, consisting of eight shades of #10, including the yellowish orange brown and bright orange brown (both rarity 9 on Dr. Amonette's scale of 1 to 10), there are two shades of the scarce experimental orange brown (rarity 5) and a four margin reddish orange brown (rarity 8), plus there are 66 shades of #11, including the late 1852 Claret (rarity 7; catalog value $2,000.00) but with a bold pen cancel, most are three margin examples as is usual for a color study, but some four margin copies noted, few small faults, range of cancels (few with manuscript), overall a fine and important assemblage for the Three Cent student (not illustrated). Est. 500-750
