464 og 449 image#449, 2c Red rotary coil, Ty. I, perf. 10 horiz., joint line pair, fabulously well centered within large margins, incredibly bright and fresh, with rich characteristic red color distinctive only to genuine examples, full pristine o.g. that has been only lightly hinged, extremely fine. The rarity of the Two Cent Type I rotary plate coil is the result of its very limited lifespan, having been issued in December 1915, only to have been replaced by the Type III design in February 1916. Additionally, its release was virtually unnoticed by philatelists at the time and very few were saved. To acquire a joint line pair of this rarity, in any condition, is a challenge few of today's philatelists are ever able to accomplish. To find one in the gem quality of the example offered here is a very rare opportunity. In addition to this line pair's outstanding centering, one of its most impressive virtues is its remarkable overall brilliance, with absolutely radiant color on crisp paper. Even its perforations between the two stamps are strong and completely intact. An important 20th century rarity that is often missing in even the most advanced collections. (Image) 15,000.00
