41 c   New York City postal history pot-pourri, 115 covers, ranging from Colonial to about 1900, mounted on exhibit pages and album pages, with a great deal of interesting material present, there is strength in the stampless period including 1694 and 1704 letters written in Dutch to Schenectady, 1755 cover with ms. "NY 3dtw", straightline "NEW/YORK" on 1763 and 1769 covers, plus other later straightline postmarks, fancy oval clam shell (5), ovals and a wide range of different circular datestamps, also present are some interesting stampless Trans-Atlantics, several ship covers, steamboat, free, carriers and locals and a nice showing of county postmarks on stampless and stamped covers including Williamsburg, Harlem, Yorkville, Astoria, Bay Side, College Point, Flatbush, Fort Hamilton, Manhattanville and others, condition is largely fine-very fine; this would make a fine basis for someone wishing to start a New York City postal history collection. 43 c   Trans-Atlantic covers inbound or originating from New York City, accumulation comprised of 56 1840's to 1870's stampless covers, both incoming and outgoing, with a nice variety of origins, destinations, rates and markings including many better, plus a Rothschild correspondence of thirteen stampless covers from 1859-69 to Paris originating in New York or Mobile, the other half of the lot is stamped Trans-Atlantic covers to about 1900, with some better frankings such as three covers with 15c 1861, including a pair, a cover franked by the 12c "E" grill and three 10c 1869 covers, including one franked by a pair, some faults but most are fine-very fine. Livestock Emporium exhibit and collection, comprised of an exhibit in two binders and an extensive collection in eleven binders of hundreds of covers from and to the Powell Bros., first while in Syracuse, N.Y. during the Civil War, then from Crawford county, Pa. from the mid-1860's into the 20th century as the town changed its name from Spring Corners to Spring to Springboro and finally to Shadeland, the covers are not only from the Powell Bros. with their various all-over advertisements and illustrated corner cards, but a great many are to the firm and bear illustrated corner cards depicting horses and other livestock as well as other subjects, these covers come from a wide range of places and some have county or other better postmarks and cancels such a "Jack-O-Lantern", the collection is mounted and written-up on pages and loose, with a good amount of ancillary information, illustrations and historical information, typical mixed condition, many fine-very fine; includes the owner's 2007 44 page publication on the subject.
