amazing assemblage kept intact for decades containing a wealth of histo1908 "King Edward VII/Land" stamps issued for use on the Nimrod expedition, the remarkable intact folio as persevered by direct descendents of Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton, an amazing assemblage kept intact for decades containing a wealth of historical data, autographed letters, the stamps themselves (both on and off cover), printed materials, all related to the issuance of these fascinating stamps; of the issued stamps we note large used intact multiples of 9, 31, 43 and 60 (these alone catalog in excess of £5,400), three covers being postally used (including one a rare registered usage with four stamps, and another interesting "Loose Letter" usage), in addition to five "used" on unaddressed covers; there are five letter press official P.O. forms with entries on them, including Shackleton's initials, a Registered Letter Book for recording "Registered Articles received at the Sub-post Office...for Delivery", again with manuscript entries (Shackleton's?), a series of several autographed letters (various senders including Commander Sir Jameson Boyd Adams to Shackleton) all relating to the issuance and details of the stamps, printed pamphlets including a New Zealand guide on 1907 Post Offices, plus other materials; a most interesting and valuable assemblage that must be viewed in person to fully appreciate its importance to the stamp or historical specialist of this expedition.
