#142, 149, 1929 10K on 5K and 2K on 25a Surcharges, a horizontal pair of the former and a horizontal strip of three of the latter, also with two unsurcharged 5a
issues, all tied to scarce registered cover flown on the first Air Mail flight from Reykjavik to New York City by "Reykjavik/9.VI.29" c.d.s. postmarks, with special three line "Par aviators/Ahrenberg Floden/Iceland-New York" cachet on reverse,
various New York backstamps, strip of three with very minor gum soaking, overall a very fine and handsome cover; not only is this a seldom seen first flight cover, but the surcharged stamps used to frank the cover are very scarce when used properly

1 |
#1, 1855 4s Blue, an extremely rare mint example still retaining its full original gum, full to mostly large margins all around, rich color, couple of
minor natural gum wrinkles, very fine; the first stamp of Norway is an especially challenging stamp to find mint, as most are found without gum (often with pen cancels removed) or they have been regummed, as an indication of rarity this is the only
original gum example we have ever offered in our auctions in nearly fifteen years; signed lightly in pencil a couple of times including H. Bloch, also accompanied by 1978 Friedl and Moldenhauer certificates (Facit #1; 30,000SEK). (Image) |

1 |
#1, 1855 3s Blue green on thin paper, a wonderfully fresh and fault-free unused example of this classic stamp, without gum as always found, considerably
stronger color and impression than usual on bright paper, additionally its centering is superior to most as its perforations clear the design all around, very fine for this rarity; signed Sjöman, as well as being accompanied by his 1971 certificate
and a 1998 Obermüller Wilén certificate (Facit #1b; 85,000SEK). (Image) |

1 var. |
#1 var., 1855 3s Blue green on thin paper, "TOE" for "TRE" error, an immensely rare unused example of this important variety, in fact, this is the only recorded unused
example according to the Facit catalog showing the distinctive "TOE" error in the value tablet, without gum as always found on the unused examples of the first issue, strong fresh color, centered a bit to bottom as is typical of this issue, fine;
a highly desirable example of one of Sweden's most important classic rarities; listed but unpriced in Facit; signed and accompanied by a 1980 Obermüller certificate (Facit #1cv3; unpriced). (Image) |

#2, 1855 4s Light blue on thin paper, a most attractive unused example, without gum as almost always found, fresh color on bright paper, uncharacteristically well
centered when compared to most existing unused copies, without the usual flaws that are endemic to this difficult issue, very fine overall; signed Sjöman accompanied by his 1968 certificate (Facit #2; 13,000SEK).

3, 4 |
#3, 4, 1855 6s Brownish gray and 8s Dull yellow orange, two singles of the former and a single of the latter, all tied to a lovely 1857 folded letter sheet to St.
Petersburg by outstanding strikes of "Stockholm/29.5/1857" c.d.s., with a fourth strike to the left of the 6s stamps, all three stamps with unusually strong and bright colors, 6s stamps centered a bit to right, 8s is unusually well centered for the
issue, very fine; an extraordinarily beautiful first issue cover possessing exceptional quality and eye appeal; signed Agaton Fabergé and accompanied by 1985 Obermüller and 1997 Obermüller Wilén certificates (Facit #3c, 4f).

3c |
#3c, 1856 6s Gray brown on thin paper, an enormously rare unused example of this distinctive shade, being one of only two unused examples recorded, without gum as
virtually all unused first issues are found, rich color, quite well centered, couple of characteristic irregular perforations, two small thin spots, very fine appearance; any unused example of the "6 Skill. B:co" is terribly elusive, but to find one
in the Gray brown shade is an even rarer occasion; signed and accompanied by 1969 Sjöman and 1998 Obermüller certificates (Facit #3d; unpriced). (Image) |

4a |
#4a, 1855 8s Brownish orange on thin paper, an extraordinarily rare mint example still retaining a thin layer of its original gum, which is almost unheard of on
any of the unused examples of the first issue of Sweden, brilliantly fresh color, uncharacteristically well centered, couple of really trivial corner perforation creases at bottom and typical irregular perforations, overall very fine; any unused
8s value is a rarity, but to find one still retaining its original gum is almost an impossible challenge; signed Sjöman and accompanied by his 1971 certificate, as well as a 1998 Obermüller Wilén certificate (Facit #4b; 45,000SEK). (Image) |

8, 10, 12a |
#8, 10, 12a, 1858-62, 12ö Blue, 24ö Orange and 50ö Dark carmine, one each of the 12ö and 24ö, plus three copies of the 50ö all tied to an extremely rare cover to Nice,
Italy (Sardinia) by neat strikes of "Stockholm/17.9/1858" c.d.s., red straightline "VIA DI SVIZZERA" handstamp, sent via North Germany and Switzerland, with Lubeck, Genova and Nizza transit postmarks on reverse, all of the stamps quite well
centered and margined, as well as having strong rich colors, the cover has had some professional "freshening" to reduce some minor toning, overall very fine; early Sweden covers to the Italian States are extremely rare (believed to be one of only
three recorded), with this being the unique 186ö franking combination; 1997 Obermüller Wilén certificate (Facit #9b1, 10a, 12a). (Image) |

China by "Stockholm/18.11/1865" c.d.s. postmarks, sent via Prussia and England, with blue boxed "FRANCO" and red boxed "PP" on front, along with red London transit c.d.s., Lubeck transit c.d.s. on reverse along with Shanghai receiver, both stamps
and cover with faults but none terribly obtrusive nor of any relative importance given that this is the only recorded "Coat-of-Arms" issue cover to China; a highly desirable exhibition item (Facit #9, 12a).
