4099   Greece Large Hermes Heads Specialized Collection. Over 1,500 stamps in a Lighthouse album, most are used, but does contain some unused (including with original gum), some multiples, excellent representation of all printings from 1861 to 1880s, nearly half the collection is prior to 1868, a particularly strong selection of the earlier Athens printings, with 39 coarse impressions and 185 fine impressions, including rare shades such as the 1l Deep Chocolate with Holcombe certificate, several varieties, later issues similarly represented, with duplication including shades and varieties, all formed over a 25 year period by a knowledgeable student, condition is mixed as would be expected on such a large holding, nearly all with Fine-Very Fine appearance, an extensive collection of Large Hermes Heads that catalogues over €75,000 in the Hellas catalgue

Two binders, one has 1881-1907 Issues, with many varieties including imperforate, tete-beche, and surcharges, including 1906 1c on 50c Claret (Scott 108a, small faults, P.F. certificate), also issues from 1960-78, with numerous varieties, mostly imperforate or part-perforate, but also a double impression, the second binder contains 250 different Specimen overprints from the American Bank Note Co., most are Fine-Very Fine

To 1930s in two albums, 19th Century unused including several 1877 Surcharges, later issues unused, with some error and varieties such as all three 1891 Peso values with inverted center, later issues also with many errors, particularly the overprints and surcharges of the 1920s, much of the value in Air Posts, which contain a myriad of errors and varieties of all kinds, and while some of these don't catalogue a high dollar amount, they are not at all easy to find, several with certificates or signed by recognized air post experts, mainly Fine-Very Fine, a collection chock full of elusive stamps, ex Edward Gilbert
