VERY FINE. THIS ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK IS ONE OF THE BEST CENTERED MULTIPLES OF THE 12-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED.
There are several original-gum blocks of the 12c 1869 Pictorial, ranging in size from four to nine stamps. Nearly all of the unused blocks are more or less off center. This well-centered block is one of the most attractive of all 12c 1869 multiples.
Ex Caspary, where described by Herbert A. Bloch as "one of the finest known." With 2015 P.F. certificate (Image)

VERY FINE AND CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE SCARCE TYPE I 15-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE. ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE WE HAVE HANDLED IN YEARS.
With 2015 P.F. certificate (Image)
VERY FINE-EXTREMELY FINE. ONE OF THE FINEST BLOCKS OF THE 15-CENT TYPE II 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE IN EXISTENCE.
The survival of this block through the "blockbusting" decades of the 1980's and 90's was only made possible by the fact that the European Connoisseur acquired it in the 1956 Caspary sale and kept it safe from the stamp-separating vandals. A Power Search of our past offerings will reveal the nature of 15c 1869 Type II blocks. If they are intact, they are either terribly off center or have disturbed gum. One large multiple that has been kept intact is well-centered and fresh, but otherwise the surviving blocks are not for the condition-conscious collector.
Ex Caspary. This beautifully centered block realized $700 against a $300 Scott value in the 1956 Caspary sale, where it was acquired by the European Connoisseur. With 2015 P.F. certificate (Image)
VERY FINE. ONLY THREE COVERS TO NORWAY WITH THE 15-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE ARE RECORDED.
Four 1869 Pictorial Issue covers to Norway are known for the 10c value and up. Two others with a 15c are recorded. This cover is not listed in the 1869 PRA Census and was probably unknown to anyone in this country until now.

VERY FINE. THE 24-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE IS SELDOM ENCOUNTERED IN SOUND ORIGINAL-GUM CONDITION WITH THE CENTERING AND FRESHNESS PRESENTED BY THIS EXAMPLE.
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST VISUALLY STUNNING UNUSED 24-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE STAMPS WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED. THE IDEAL STAMP FOR THE COLLECTOR WHO VALUES CONDITION AND QUALITY OVER THE QUANTITY OF GUM ON THE BACK.
Ex Caspary. With 2015 P.F. certificate graded XF-Superb 95 XQ (denoting Exceptional Quality) (Image)
